Some movies are unforgettable because of the plot. Others because of the songs. The real all-timers are the ones where the music and the story become the same thing, and that is exactly the argument we get into while ranking the top 10 greatest movie soundtracks of all time.

We kick things off with real-life chaos and quick hits from the music world, including Michelle Branch returning with a new album and tour, plus a wild stat showing vinyl and vintage music players are surging again. We talk about why physical media is back, how collectors think about value, and what actually matters if you want a record player setup that sounds good without wrecking your records.

From there, the mood turns heartfelt as we remember Sam Neill and what Jurassic Park meant to a whole generation. Then we swing back to music discovery, picking “Creep” by Radiohead as song of the week and trading the movie moments that introduced us to songs we still love. Finally, we debate the list itself: Footloose, Tarzan, 8 Mile, Purple Rain, School of Rock, American Pie, Shrek 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, and why Almost Famous ends up wearing the crown.

Hit play, then tell us your all-time number one movie soundtrack. And if you enjoy the show, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more soundtrack obsessives can find us.

Welcome And Big Questions

SPEAKER_04

Some movies become classics because of the story. Others become unforgettable because of the music. But when you put them all together, which movie soundtrack deserves to be called the greatest of all time? Let's talk about it. I fucking love that. I'm the worst person to have a podcast.

SPEAKER_02

I can barely what is up, everybody.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back to the Hook and Bridge podcast. I am your host, Harley, joined by my co-host and little sister Taylor. As always, um, Chris might be joining us here in a little bit. We're not sure yet. So hopefully he is more than welcome. Surprise guest. Um but regardless, this is the Hook and Bridge Podcast. Today we are discussing the top 10 movie soundtracks. The entertainment industry lost a legend recently.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_04

Michelle Branch is back at it. And what music media is soaking up 34% of the industry? But before all of that, Taylor life updates, what is going on in your neck of the woods?

SPEAKER_08

So yesterday I went to Olive Garden for the first time in like 10 years, 12 years. Uh it was pretty mid. I'm not gonna lie. The pasta I messed up. I should have gotten the Alfredo. I did not. Um, instead, I got some baked ziti, and I now I'm realizing I don't think I like baked ziti.

SPEAKER_04

Well, it's interesting that you say that it

Olive Garden Chaos And Friend Stories

SPEAKER_04

was pretty mid because when you're there, you are family. And our family is pretty mid.

SPEAKER_08

So they're holding up. Um there, you want to hear something crazy. So, you know, my girl Mia.

SPEAKER_04

Uh sure. Shout out, Mia.

SPEAKER_03

What up, dude?

SPEAKER_08

She's my girl. We're like this, we're quaint.

SPEAKER_03

Um card, yes. Oh, okay. Hello, Mia.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it was her birthday's today. So we all went out yesterday.

SPEAKER_04

Happy birthday, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

So we went out yesterday. That's all she wanted. She wanted all of her friends together. She wanted to go to the city.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry, Taylor, Taylor, hold on, hold on. Uh, camera one in on me, real quick. Uh, Mia, I hope you have a wonderful, beautiful birthday. And thank you for being such a supportive fan of the Hook and Bridge podcast because I know you listen every single week. Because that's what a good supportive friend would do for Taylor. Back to camera two.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Me. So we get to all of Larden. I walk in with um another barista friend. Okay. We walk in. I'm like five minutes late. It was supposed to start at seven. I I was trying to get there. I was trying. Five seven oh five. I get there. Walk in. I'm walking in with my girl. My friend goes, Hey, we're here with a large party. Now, I thought it was gonna be like between seven and like maybe ten people, right? I'm thinking like a handful of people from the group chat are gonna be here. Very seldom does everyone from the group chat get together.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, yeah, like like six, seven people at most.

SPEAKER_08

Yes. Walk in, she goes, Oh, party for 14.

unknown

14.

SPEAKER_04

I don't even know that many people.

SPEAKER_08

I clutched my pearls. I didn't know I knew that many people. You can't afford pearls. They're fake, they're from Amazon. Clutched them though. I looked at my friend, I said, 14, and she goes, Yeah, everyone decided they were gonna come. That is insane. Also, don't think we're allowed back at the Olive Garden because one thing about this group is society is scared of us collectively. We walk in two giant tables filled with girls, and you could see like there are kids behind us and they're eating, they're kind of looking at us, like sort of laughing, we're giggling, we're having a good time. We're a little rowdy, we're a little loud, we're girlies. Not no one was drunk either.

SPEAKER_04

Not in the Lord's place of Olive Garden.

SPEAKER_08

It was it was crazy, and then I got sat at the table. I didn't get to sit by Mia, unfortunately. Um, I got sat at like the bad kid table. That's how I felt. I barely I will say, well, camera one, camera one in on me.

SPEAKER_04

I take everything back, Mia.

SPEAKER_08

That's real fucked up, but no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry, camera one, I take it back. Hold on, we're not to the end of the story.

SPEAKER_08

Well, so after first of all, during dinner, we're all laughing, having a good time. I have to send you this picture of my girl Jessa and the bow, not bow tie, the tie she was wearing.

SPEAKER_04

Were there drinks involved?

SPEAKER_08

Um, a couple other girls had a margarita.

SPEAKER_04

Like margaritas at an olive garden?

SPEAKER_08

And the one one girl had some. I'm taking back.

SPEAKER_04

I I I was gonna say I agree with Olive Garden. If you're having margaritas in an olive garden instead of wine, you don't deserve to come back, actually. It was crazy because I was like, This isn't a San Jose's, this isn't a Plaza Azteca, this isn't a Taco Bell. You can't be having Margaritas.

SPEAKER_08

So I just want you to look at that. I didn't want to share on screen because I don't want her face out and about, but but zoom in on that tie. Look at how sick her tie is.

SPEAKER_00

Yo, yo, isn't that so cool? That's my Twitter page. Hey, dude.

SPEAKER_08

I I told her I said I have to take a picture to show it.

SPEAKER_04

But yeah, can you ask her legitimately where she got it? I want that tie.

SPEAKER_08

Um, an ex-girlfriend got it for her. I did ask, so she doesn't know where it's at.

SPEAKER_04

Where or where it's at. I want that tie so bad. Also, look at the hat. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_09

Dude, she's so cool.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, for everybody listening, she is she does go by she, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, okay.

SPEAKER_04

She is wearing um a full three-quarter neck tie that is every Pokeball ever made. It has the master ball, the dive ball, the luxury ball, the ultra ball, the timer ball, the master ball, the safari ball. Uh, it's got them all. And then she's wearing a hat, a dad hat that has a Gengar, Hunter, and Ghastly face on it. Here's the thing, but it's a black hat, so it's just their faces with all black hat. It's really sick.

SPEAKER_08

She is the boy vers or the girl version of you, or boy version. Honestly, I stand by that.

SPEAKER_04

I'm so in.

SPEAKER_08

She okay, so I think honestly, I'm not gonna lie, you guys should talk. You guys should get together. She would love to play Pokemon with you, like genuinely. She's also 28.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. So you guys are in the same, like Taylor, you're 25.

SPEAKER_08

I'm 24. Shut your mouth. Secondly, secondly, no, she's so cool. And you know what her favorite holiday is?

SPEAKER_04

Pokemon Day?

SPEAKER_08

9-11. Not favorite, but like never forget, you know what I mean? Never forget, never forget. Never forget.

SPEAKER_07

She sends me 9-11 memes all the time because I'm the only one that gets them.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I think there's a whole group of people that might get them in a certain country. Uh, but anyways, what I wanted to say though before you finish, I'm so sorry. I want to say this so that I don't forget. Uh, speaking of uh Pokemon Taylor, Scarlet and Violet is doing a mass outbreak event for the first time since like ZA came out.

SPEAKER_08

Oh gosh, I have to get back on. I cannot finish ZA to save my life.

SPEAKER_04

Shiny, shiny Lapras, shiny Psyduck, and a couple of other shiny water Pokemon. I don't remember, but those were the two that I'm interested in.

SPEAKER_08

Wait, so fun.

SPEAKER_04

Shiny Psyduck is blue, and shiny lapris is purple. So, and it's a mass outbreak event going on right now, between now and I think like August 17th, I think, or something like that. Or no, it's July 17th to August something. Um, perfect.

SPEAKER_08

I'm I'm gonna have to hop on. I'm sure I'll probably do that after this.

SPEAKER_04

They're also doing a Magikarp raid called Magikarp the Unrivaled, and he comes with like a special mark, and he's level 100, and he's like all the really hard ones that we did in the past. Yeah, he's he's that, but his his attacks are like splash, flail, and tackle. It's great. Give me a thunderbolt. Uh dude, I'm so I'm so bumped. I'm so bumped.

SPEAKER_08

I I started to get back into Bulcopia. I'm just I'm burnt out. I think that's my issue. I wanted to get back on. I was trying to go do, I wanted to go do the world that we started, and then genuinely I was like, I don't have it in me to like build and do things.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I dude, I'm just I've gotten back on. I just I want to find the Pokemon now. That's my thing.

SPEAKER_08

I just I just want to find Pokemon. Like, I don't want to go build too much until I I I haven't picked up Animal Crossing, I don't know how long.

SPEAKER_04

Do the story go when you get on, do the story because that's what I've been doing. I've been doing the story and just I pick an area and I'm like, what Pokemon have I not found yet here? Yeah, and I just do everything I can to find Pokemon.

SPEAKER_08

I gotta get back on. Um, but so so at dinner, this is also another thing. That friend who's wearing that tie, I don't know how this got started, but she started singing Superbass by Nicki Minaj. This is how I knew we were cooked at the Olive Garden.

SPEAKER_01

This is how I knew I was like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

SPEAKER_08

We that whole table, me included Majaj. Nikki Majaj. We knew I didn't know that I knew every single word to that song, but I know every single word of that song, and we're rapping. One with the boys, the boom, and system, and we're going on and like we're just progressively getting louder. And I'm like, Well, we're gonna get kicked out of the olive garden because there's just so many of us, there's so many, anyways. Um, and then the table where Mia was at, they were all kind of staring at us, and we're like the whole the whole song, the whole 30 minutes.

SPEAKER_04

Was it on like the radio there? No, that's crazy. You guys, you guys impromptu rap super base?

SPEAKER_00

What who does that?

SPEAKER_07

And I kid you not, I haven't felt that much joy since I listened to Toby Keith who watched Fireworks.

SPEAKER_09

Jeez, man.

SPEAKER_08

It was it was wild. I was like, this is great. And then we finished, and I'm like, that felt like a fever bream. Like, what was that? Um, so so that happened yesterday, and then today Dylan I were at Publix. Dude, listen, this is the craziest thing I've ever wanted to say.

SPEAKER_04

Anything in a Publix is good, especially in Florida.

SPEAKER_08

We're checking out, and I see this guy. So, so Dylan I are at the end, and there's like two registers at the second register from us. There's this old woman checking out, and this guy gets really close to her. And he like she and I didn't get the whole vibe,

The Publix Sub Heist

SPEAKER_08

but like she had kind of moved out of the way, and then he he had a a sub, like a pub sub, and he had scanned it, and she looked over and he goes, Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I thought you were done. Because like there was a line, like, right? It was like kind of hectic. He goes, I'm so sorry, I thought you were finished. And she goes, Oh no, I'm not, but it's okay. And he goes, ma'am, I truly I'm sorry. And she's going like this, man. He was like, she goes, Oh, honey, it's okay, no worries, like it could be fixed. He goes, Let me go grab somebody to like fix this. Walks out the front doors.

SPEAKER_09

What? What did you do? I said that just happened.

SPEAKER_04

Yo, this can't be real. This can't be real. Wait a minute.

SPEAKER_08

Genuinely, I was like, I'm gonna go find him. Literally, I was like, I'm gonna run out these front doors and I'm gonna go get him because that's a robbery. Don't do that, not yo.

SPEAKER_04

Yo, this man is a legend. That is the most legendary thing I he not only did he steal a sub, he he scanned it under some other lady's bill and had a whole thing about it and was like that's mastermind. And and he was like and he was dressed like 11. That's ocean's 11 style.

SPEAKER_08

And like that's and he he like clean, clean cut, like he was wearing some nice khakis. He had like a nice red, like long.

SPEAKER_04

This this was the CIA. That was the CIA.

SPEAKER_08

Genuinely, I it happened, and I was like, there's no, and then the lady just stood there, she was like this, she went watched him leave, and then looked at me and said, I'm not paying for the sub.

SPEAKER_04

That would make me question my my entire day.

SPEAKER_08

Genuinely, I looked at the I was like, that is the craziest thing that I have ever seen in my life. I've been thinking about it all day. I had so I the public stays next next to the target, so I had to go back to the target today to get the toilet paper. And I thought about it again. I passed, I was like, Man, I hope his sub was worth it if it was free. Like, I hope it was delicious, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Um, everybody listening, uh, new life hack opened up just now.

SPEAKER_08

No, genuinely, I was like, if you're gonna steal, I guess that's the way to do it.

SPEAKER_04

Well, technically, like on paper, did he steal? I mean, yeah, he still left without it being paid for, but he pay, but he he scanned it, and the responsibility now falls. It's it's like the ultimate game of tag. It's hot potato, it's like uh your job.

SPEAKER_08

Truly, you're and the way, and like how since what's crazy is how sincere he was how he literally he was like, Oh my god, like I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_04

This man is the ultimate gaslighter. Somebody find him and use him for any sort of bonfire you plan on having because it was he definitely hits women though. That's a for sure.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, has to. There's no way, yeah. She learned he was like, uh like he was just like, I really I thought you were done. I'm so sorry. It was such a sweet moment. And he he was like, let me go grab someone to fix this, and then walked out the walked out the doors.

SPEAKER_04

I think I love him. I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm the only full circle. I think I'm in love.

SPEAKER_08

I was like, that's insane that that happened.

SPEAKER_04

That's the most boss move I've ever heard in my life, dude. I can't fathom that's insane.

SPEAKER_08

It was it was crazy, it really was. Anyways, that's the story I couldn't wait. I thought about calling you. You know what's so funny is I was gonna call you after it happened. I was like, no, I'm gonna save it for the pod. Yeah, I was like, I need a genuine reaction to save for the pod because that it was it a full sub or was it a half sub?

SPEAKER_04

Because full subs are like 11 bucks.

SPEAKER_08

I think it was half, it didn't look that big.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, all right. So I mean we're talking like a six-dollar sub though. I mean, still though, that's what if it was a specialty? Did I tell you what I did? Uh it's it's been a few weeks ago. I don't I don't brag about my charitable things that I do because uh to me, charity isn't something to brag about, but I think this is a nice this is a nice story.

SPEAKER_02

So Okay, let me hear it.

SPEAKER_04

Um so Lindsay and I went to an ice cream shop and to get coffee one day with her friends, and uh we were out of coffee creamer at the house, and the coffee shop

Paying It Forward In Real Life

SPEAKER_04

or the the coffee shop is like a mobile like coffee truck. Yeah, so so we followed around occasionally with her friends, and they were at a food line parking lot, and an ice cream shop was beside the food line. So her and Adam went and got ice cream, and they were standing in line for coffee, and I was like, Well, this line's super long, so while you guys are standing here, I'm gonna run and grab our coffee creamer for the house so that we can kill two birds, one stone. You know what I mean? Yeah. So I go into the food line and I'm standing in line, and the lady in front of me finishes scanning all of her groceries, and they told tell her the total, and she takes cash out of her wallet, and it's not enough. And she's like, Hold on, I got I gotta have more money in the car. And she goes out to her car, and uh, I asked the cashier, I was like, Hey, can you take the cash off? And I'm just gonna pay for her groceries. And uh she was like, Yeah, I can do that. Are you sure? And I was like, Yeah, it was like 50 bucks. Yeah, so I was like, Yeah, just throw my coffee creamer on there, I'm gonna pay for her groceries. And I do that, and then as I finish up, I'm starting to walk out. She walks in and she's got all this change, right? She goes up to the counter and she goes, ma'am, here's your money back. That guy you paid for your groceries. And she cried and thanked me. And I was like, It's okay. I was like, I was like, we've all been there, you know what I mean? I was like, just you know, pay it forward any way you can. This is just me trying to be a good person. And and yeah, she was like, is there anything I was like, no, you're good.

SPEAKER_07

Like live your life, girl.

SPEAKER_04

Enjoy those groceries. Yeah. So so I left. So, anyways.

SPEAKER_08

That's so sweet. Do you want to hear what I did last night? Sorry, I know we're this is gonna be so long.

SPEAKER_04

You're good.

SPEAKER_08

So we we went to have you ever heard of swig?

SPEAKER_04

I have no idea what that is.

SPEAKER_08

So it's like a it's like a dirty soda situation. It's like a drive-thru. We have a couple here in Florida, and then I think like I don't know, they're just like randomly around.

SPEAKER_04

So it's like a brew-through, like you go get beer and shit.

SPEAKER_08

Not beer.

SPEAKER_04

It's it's not like uh, it's not like a um it's not like a drive, it's not like a drive-thru back home in Ohio.

SPEAKER_08

No, no, no, no. So it's like, do you know what a dirty soda is? It doesn't have alcohol in it. So ascent, so essentially it's like a soda with like syrups and heavy cream and everything that's disgusting for you, but it's so it's good, well, not so good. Honestly, it's fine.

SPEAKER_03

It's a yeah, that sounds gross.

SPEAKER_08

Like it's a good well, the thing that I got was like blue raspberry and sprite. Do you know what I mean? Like it, like it tasted like a honestly, it tasted like a Baja Blast. I'm gonna be real with you.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say, but like, yeah, yeah, I was gonna say, like, doesn't Sprite have like different flavored sprites?

SPEAKER_08

So yes, but like they add syrups, and then like we so we went to Swig, and then like one of the girls was like, Well, I love Diet Coke and Peach. And the lady was like, Okay, well, let me make you like she made her like this coconut cream diet coke with peach flavoring. Like, like you can do a bunch of different concoctions with soda, essentially. So it's 9:30. They close at 10. We get there at 9:30. We're in the parking lot, and and Mia was like, Well, should we go inside? And I'm like, No, are you crazy? It's 9:30. Go through the drive-thru if we're if we're gonna make them mad. The workers were standing in the front watching our because we're parked directly in front. They come to the window, they're watching our car, they look at us, they go, I said, pull up in that drive-thru. That's crazy. First of all, it's 30 minutes to close. I understand, and I worked closing shifts at Starbucks. It's annoying, it's 30 minutes till close.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Like I'm gonna die on this hill.

SPEAKER_08

Sucks to suck. You we we should not be doing um any sort of like full closing, close 18 minutes.

SPEAKER_04

Close doesn't start until close. I worked at McDonald's. I worked at McDonald's. If if close was 11 o'clock and somebody showed up at 10 58, you bet your ass I was making that burger.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it sucks, but you have to do like I understand, like, if it and that was that was my thing. I was like, okay, well, if we were here at like nine. You paid to be there.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, you paid to be there.

SPEAKER_08

I was like, if you were if we got here at 9 55, I'd say, guys, let's let's skip swig. Like, we work at Starbucks, we know that's annoying. We're not gonna be those people. I'm like, it's 9 30. Doesn't matter if it's annoying, though.

SPEAKER_04

It doesn't matter if it's annoying.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, but still, you know what I mean? I'm like, we can do with that.

SPEAKER_04

Even when I was at McDonald's, I never got upset about that because the way I look at it is if yeah, the managers always wanted to leave, you know what I mean? Yes, but they were but they were salary, I was hourly.

SPEAKER_08

So the same issue at Bath and Body Works when our like shift lead at the time when I was doing closing, this woman came in and she it was like 15 minutes till close. The shift lead gave her a dirty look and everything. I'm like, she's still paying customer, that's crazy. And you know what? I took she bought one hand, she was gonna buy, or it was like one or two hand sanitizers. She left with a $200 bill because I talked her into buying so many things, and I'm like, that's crazy. Because now you met your quota because of me, because I treated her the way she should be treated as a customer.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but also, though, my whole thing is that if I'm an hourly employee and I'm working the closing shift, if we're done, if closing is at 11, yeah, and we're done at well, so they always build so a closing would be at 11, but I would be scheduled until 12. They give you an hour of closing.

SPEAKER_08

To close, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But if I'm done at 11 or shortly after, they don't pay me for that extra hour. It's based off of what hour is closest. They round up and round down, yeah. So if you don't cross that 30-minute mark of like 11:35, interesting, yeah. At least at McDonald's, I can't.

SPEAKER_08

I was gonna say Starkeys didn't do that at McDonald's.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when I worked there at the age of 16, which I know was forever ago, but the the policy was like if you didn't cross that half hour, that's wild. You got yeah, you just lost that time.

SPEAKER_08

Uh At the library, it was the 15-minute mark. So, like it was only within 15-minute increments. Um, at Starbase, every minute, every minute you were there, you are paid. Um, I think that's how it is at the job I'm at now, but I could be wrong. I never really looked that far into it. But, anyways, we go through the drive-thru. I had cash that I had found I didn't know I had. And like I'm a broke girl, but I am a firm believer I'll do without and I'll always pay it forward because it's gonna come back. Some way, shape, or form, it's gonna come back. I know that I'll be fine. I don't want to see someone else go without, right? Anyways, so it was me, three other girls, including Mia. So I was like, okay, well, let me, I'm gonna pay for everyone's drinks. It was like $16 or something like that. So I handed a $20. And then I handed, I gave the girl who was closest to the window $15 more dollars than I found. I said, give this to them as a tip. That's fair because by the time we actually pulled through that drive-thru when everyone figured out what they were getting, it was like $9.47. And I'm like, let me at least like let me give them a tip because like I I understand being annoyed. I get it. Like, like, sure, it's fine. I understand it. Let me at least give you if there were three of them working, that's five dollars extra a piece, right? Let me give you a $15 tip, anyways. That was my my pay pay it forward. Well, was it pay it forward if it was a tip?

SPEAKER_04

I don't think not really, not really, no, but it's still nice, it's a nice tip.

SPEAKER_08

It was still a hefty tip. I don't think the lady at Olive Garden that got that big of a tip, to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_04

Um, but we are a music show. Let's dive into some of these big stories. Uh, Michelle Branch announced her new album Everywhere and Back again, her first new album in years, along with North American tour kicking off this fall. The album will feature reimagined versions of some of her biggest hits alongside new material. So I know Lindsay's very excited about that.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know who that is.

SPEAKER_04

Uh,

Music News And Vinyl Resurgence

SPEAKER_04

she, I believe, sings the song I'm a band, I'm a lover, I'm a child. I think that's who that is, but I'm not positive. I know I know a Michelle Branch song for sure, but I think that's the one. Uh a new survey found that 34% of adults now own a vintage music player, with vinyl continuing its strongest resurgence across multiple generations. The nostalgia trend shows no signs of slowing down. That is a topic that I wanted to talk about. Um, if you're an investor of sorts and you follow music news, I would say now would be the time to invest in vinyl because it's on the upswing right now. Um, probably a little late to the game, to be honest with you. Should have been buying buying vinyl for the past 10 years or so. Yeah, uh, we've been saying on this show that it was making a comeback. It is 34 is huge. Yeah, that is the music medium of choice right now amongst young adults of vinyl.

SPEAKER_08

Interesting. Honestly, it makes sense. Makes sense.

SPEAKER_04

Um, so when I started getting into vinyl, it was 15, and that was in 2012, 2013. So we're at 34 in 2026. So, statistician, do what you will with that information. I say your safe bet is to invest in older vinyl, yes, um, and newer vinyl.

SPEAKER_08

I I say get it all uh for popular artists and go if anyone wants to invest in helping me get the one Khaled vinyl that I don't have because it's a bajillion dollars, please send us money through our Patreon. Thank you.

SPEAKER_04

Uh and while you're at it, why don't you go buy some of our awesome merch? I have a new shirt that I'm gonna be putting up tonight, actually. Uh, but yeah, I think that's a very interesting subject. I think it it shows the the downward slope of media and and like Spotify and iTunes and stuff. Yeah, um, I think that people are realizing that artists aren't getting the right compensation on those mediums, and that the way to support artists that they love is through buying physical material. And vinyl is the most profitable.

SPEAKER_08

Yes. I also need to buy Spring Carpenter's vinyl.

SPEAKER_04

They they I will say they have decreased the quality of vinyl in new vinyl. Unfortunately, but it's still cool, and they come in so many cool colors and special edition runs and stuff, and yeah, and it's such a fun like era of life to be a part of right now, you know what I mean? Like, and it's very intimate because the artists like get to pick the different colors and and choose, and and it makes it more special to the artist, along with you, the consumer. Like it's a really cool thing to collect, and like I love my vinyl collection. I actually we when we were cleaning the house this morning to get ready for this cookout, I uh threw on my Cedar album that I showed off on the show that I got. Yeah, yeah. So dude, and then I threw after that was over, I threw on some Lincoln Park.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, so I I am very excited for Dylan and I to get a record player.

SPEAKER_04

I will buy you a record player. You guys don't buy your record player, I will buy your record player.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, that's fine. It'll it'll be a minute.

SPEAKER_04

That's fine. I'm just saying that'll be my housewarming gift to you guys. I want to buy you a record player.

SPEAKER_08

Can it be cute? Wait, wait, wait. Can we also I want I want the layout like you have?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. I want to buy you a record player and the speakers. Yeah, I want to get you a night, a nice home system.

SPEAKER_08

Uh maybe with the lights too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, for sure. Also, um if you are in the market and you are a vinyl collector or just getting into it, maybe you have like a cheaper end player. Uh, there's nothing wrong with cheaper end players. I mean, there is, but like if it's what you have and what you can afford, there's nothing wrong with it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Uh, I do recommend if you're investing in anything to invest in a better player first. But after you have a decent player, Audio Technica makes a great player. Uh, after you have a decent player, Edifer speakers are the route to go. Little 10-inch Edifer books uh bookshelf speakers are phenomenal and they're Bluetooth compatible. So on those days that you're like, I want to listen to music, but I don't want to throw them on the vinyl, click the Bluetooth button, collect, connect it to your phone. Quality is fantastic. Like, truly, it's a great speaker.

SPEAKER_08

I had your house bumping.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, it's an awesome set of speakers.

SPEAKER_08

Uh, you your baby and I were vibant when we were hanging out.

SPEAKER_04

Um, and now we come into the sad news of the evening. Beloved actor Sam Neil, best known for playing Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park series, has died at the age of 78. Neil passed away on July 13th in Sydney after a battle with lymphoma that had recently gone into remission. His family later

Remembering Sam Neill And Jurassic Park

SPEAKER_04

confirmed that he died from pneumonia. Tributes from co-stars, including Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Steven Spielberg, have poured in, celebrating a career that spanned more than 150 films and television roles. Um, I'm distraught over his passing.

SPEAKER_08

I I I cried.

SPEAKER_04

Jurassic Park is my favorite franchise and my favorite film. Um, it sucks, man. He was he was such an amazing actor, and not just that, but in a lot of other things that he did too.

SPEAKER_08

And he inspired, like, I've seen not even just I do want to um share Lauren Dern's tribute with the show in case anyone didn't see it. Because it was it was very nice. I didn't um but a lot of people I saw it was like popping up on my Instagram, and like this guy randomly was like the the at the character of Dr. Alan Grant is what gave me my love for dinosaurs, and he was like, and now like that's my life, that's my career, and he was like, everything I have quite literally is because of him, anyways. It was it was really beautiful, but so it starts with here's Lord Durm, and then I don't know, I assume Jeff Goldblum also did one that it's kind of together, but it's this picture, and it says, The next great adventure begins. Love you always and forever. So sad. And then she does another one, and it says, Sam was my beloved lifetime friend. He showed me the depths of loyalty, protectiveness, and love, always with the driest of wit. He was a true noble gentleman wrapped up in my dream leading man. I will love you forever, Dr. Alan Grant.

SPEAKER_04

Very sad, truly true, so sad, absolutely incredible actor through and through. Uh, I can't remember for the life of me the Netflix show that I watched recently that he's in, but he is so talented in that show. It's uh it's a drama series. I'll I'll find the name. Taylor, if you could Google that real quick.

SPEAKER_08

Um sorry, I was reading more things.

SPEAKER_04

He was so amazing, and uh he's been in all kinds of stuff, but Jurassic Park holds a very special place in my heart, and uh yeah, it's it sucks, but like you know, yeah, he lived an amazing life, had an an an incredible career, and gone too soon, honestly.

SPEAKER_08

But you know, Netflix Neo Western oh wait, untamed.

SPEAKER_04

Untamed, yep, that's the show. Yeah, dude, it's um so so good.

SPEAKER_08

This this uh tribute was from Ariana Richards, which is the little girl in Jurassic Park. I can't think of her name. Oh, oh not Ellie. Ellie Laura place. What is her name?

SPEAKER_01

Uh Tim and no, is is it Ellie? No, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

No, that's Laura.

SPEAKER_01

Tim and shoot, what is her name? I know Tim.

SPEAKER_10

Tim and Allie, maybe? That's not right.

SPEAKER_08

Tim and I don't know, I'll have to Google it. Let me read this first, and I'm gonna Google it because it's gonna bother me that I can't remember it. Um she said, Sam, you are more than just a lovely actor to work with, refined, thoughtful, a skill second to none. You are a mentor, protector, and above all a friend. Thank you for making our scenes together feel so real. I will forever be grateful to have you to have been on this journey with you.

SPEAKER_04

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_08

That is so awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Um, one of my favorite scenes in Jurassic Park is towards the beginning when uh Dr. Alan Grant is in the car, and the guy that the kid that plays Tim is telling him all about like all this stuff about the books, and and how and they keep going around in the cars, right? And then he sticks he sticks Tim in the one car and closes the door and he turns around, and the girl is standing there, and she says, Um, she said it would be good for me to ride with you because it'll be good for you. And then he looks over at Laura Dern's cat character and she's staring at him and she smiles, and then they all just get into the car. I I thought that it was such a real moment. Yeah, like yeah, it's it's so cool. It's so cool. Um love that movie so much.

SPEAKER_08

Such a good movie.

SPEAKER_04

I can't remember her name.

SPEAKER_08

I'm trying to find it. I also can't spell Lex Tim and Lex as well.

SPEAKER_04

Tim and Lexi. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Oh gosh.

SPEAKER_09

Lex, you're joking me.

SPEAKER_04

When they're in the tree when they're in the tree. When they're in the tree.

SPEAKER_08

Is it a veggie dinosaur?

SPEAKER_04

Gala, gala, gala mimus.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, I love that.

SPEAKER_04

I love that movie so much.

SPEAKER_09

Oh gosh, that's such a good movie.

SPEAKER_04

Anyways, um anywho. So that brings us to uh I came very unprepared, guys. I'm gonna be honest with you. Uh, this was Chris's song of the week this week, so unfortunately, I'm going to give you nope, I'm gonna go ahead and do it. Um I'm just gonna hit shuffle and pick one that I think Chris would like. So uh we did a lot of music at the cookout today.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

How about

Song Of The Week And Movie Songs

SPEAKER_05

we don't talk the pupproom?

SPEAKER_10

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_04

Here we go. Creep by Radiohead.

SPEAKER_08

What a song! What a great song!

SPEAKER_04

I love Radiohead. I love that song. I love the acoustic version of that song a lot. Yeah, um, but creep by Radiohead is your song of the week this week.

SPEAKER_08

I know it's a very niche song. I'm sure a lot of people haven't heard of it. Uh you can also listen to it by Richard Cheese.

SPEAKER_04

It's pretty fun. That is fun. I love Richard Cheese in general.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it's a good time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I tell a lot of people about Richard Cheese. But do you I do? Ever since you showed him to me, I tell people all I have like six, I have like six songs of his downloaded. Like I genuinely think he's fantastic.

SPEAKER_08

Um so talented, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Uh, but aside from all that, instead of doing Lindsay's music meme breakdown, because again, I am sorry, I came unprepared. She's got stuff that she sent to me, but I haven't been able to pull it yet, so I'm I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_08

It's okay. It happens to the best of us. You don't have to be sorry, you're a busy guy, you're a mom. That's hard.

SPEAKER_04

But I did pose a question on Instagram on what song or what movie um helped you find like your favorite artist or song. And Lindsay, Lindsay actually commented on that and said uh Lustra from the the movie was Euro Trip. The band is Lustra, and they wrote Scotty Doesn't Know, which I agree. I agree. That is one of my favorite songs of all time, and only exists because of that movie, and it's crazy that that song only exists for that movie. Like, that song is so good, dude.

SPEAKER_08

I don't think I've ever heard it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yes, you have.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes, you have.

SPEAKER_08

What what is it?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, wait. Scotty doesn't know that Fiona and me do it in my van every Sunday. Wait, she tells him she's in turn. Scotty doesn't know. Yeah, dude. Come on.

SPEAKER_08

I'm I'm adding I'm adding the times. This is so funny. I type in Scotty. Do you want to know what popped up? Listen, listen to this. Scotty doesn't know, Dirty Little Secret, Dear Maria, Count Me In, My Own Worst Enemy, Teenager.

SPEAKER_04

These are all those are all songs that go together, actually.

SPEAKER_08

That's a great no no no no it does, but I also think it's funny because I already have them all saved, and I'm like, it's I'm I love that I'm collecting them like the infinity stones right now.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, I love that song so much. Um another song uh that reminds me of a specific movie. Unfortunately, it's an R. Kelly song. Oh not the R. Kelly, yeah, but like the original Space Jam movie when he did his cover of Fly Like an Eagle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Do do do time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the fuse.

SPEAKER_00

I love that song. Do do do that's such a good song, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Do you uh or I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, think about it every night and night.

SPEAKER_08

I used to sing that song, but I go, got ran over by the FBI. That's all I remembered, and I don't know why I was obsessed with that specific line.

SPEAKER_04

Your yours, uh Taylor, has to be cop cutie, right?

SPEAKER_08

Yes, um, yes, cop cutie, uh for sure. Um brought that up at at our office, by the way, and only one person in the room knew it, and he was a 40-year-old man.

SPEAKER_04

The Digimon movie. He only knew he's the only one that knew the Digimon movie or the bare naked ladies, the bare naked ladies. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_08

Because well, okay, so so I forget what I had said, but he went, and I said, Oh, nice. He said, I I said, Oh, nice bare naked ladies. He goes, You know ball? And I'm like, Yeah, it's good. You're 40. Anyways, uh, yeah, so no, definitely Cop Duty. I listen to Cop Duty at least three times a week, willingly, like, we'll find it on my Spotify.

SPEAKER_04

Chris also listens to it pretty often.

SPEAKER_08

Sounds song, he loves that song. You know what's great is the actor who or the person who wrote that song is the actor that sings it, like he's in the show, yeah. Yeah, yeah, and I think that's so cool. Um, anyways, no, Cop Cutie for sure. What's yours?

SPEAKER_01

Um, that's tough.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, I have another one too.

SPEAKER_04

I think uh so like when I when I think of movies, I think of like The Sandlot has a soundtrack that is very, very like sentimental to me. That's fair. Um I'm trying to think. Uh yeah, I don't know. There's so there's so many movies. So many movies. The four scum soundtrack. Yeah, fantastic, as yeah, some of the most iconic songs of all time.

SPEAKER_08

The Shrek soundtrack. Don't even get me started.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, I hate the movie Shrek, but the soundtrack slaps.

SPEAKER_08

Slaps, it's they're all bops.

SPEAKER_01

Um, the Barbie movie.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the Barbie movie's pretty solid too. I'm just Kin and and whatever else is on there. Uh 3 a.m. or not 3 a.m.

SPEAKER_08

No, yeah, push, push, push, yeah, yeah. You know what's funny is I was listening to Matchbox 20 on my walk. I actually meant to text you the other day. I'm listening to it, and the way that you very much do sound like Rob Thomas is crazy to me. Like, genuine, like, I'm like, I'm listening to it. I'm like, this could be Harley singing, and I don't think I would know the difference. I'm gonna be honest with you.

SPEAKER_04

I keep telling people for some reason they won't put me on the screen, but I keep telling people. Um, yeah, dude, there's so many movies. The Digimon movie soundtrack for sure, Pokemon the first movie, the soundtrack from that one, brother my brother.

SPEAKER_00

Um, what are the things?

SPEAKER_08

Just to be the beginning of the movie where they sing the Pokemon theme song, but how the like in like the yes, like Backstreet Boy esque. I I sing it like that all the time.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, you should. Uh, how about uh everybody wants to be your master, everybody wants to show their skills?

SPEAKER_08

Be the way to the top of the hill. Each time you try.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, each time you try, take a step.

SPEAKER_07

We messed up, we messed up.

SPEAKER_06

It's it's too far one more step up the ladder. It's so whole new world where we live in the song, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Uh dare I say I like that one better than the original.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, yeah, no, I've been on that grind. Unpopular opinion, I love I would watch those episodes just to sing the song.

SPEAKER_04

I love that series more. I'm gonna be honest with you. I love the Pokemon from Gin 2 more.

SPEAKER_08

It's my way more hair cross, hair's Electabus.

SPEAKER_04

Adam is obsessed with Totodile right now, which I love.

SPEAKER_08

That makes sense. That makes a lot of sense.

SPEAKER_04

He is a totody dial.

SPEAKER_08

He is a totodile. Anytime I would sing it to him, though, he'd be in his play pen and I'd be like singing, jamming out. Tell me why he'd go like this. He goes with his little baby face. Wait, oh my god, vibe with me. Why aren't you vibing? Because it wasn't Mickey Mouse.

SPEAKER_04

Uh let's see. Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Can you think of any other ones?

SPEAKER_04

Like there are so many. There's there's so many movies. Uh, the the uh I don't know if I would call it the soundtrack, but like the sound from Christian or not Christian Bale, Christopher Nolan's uh The Dark Knight, like the Batman sound, like the music in that movie is iconic. It's but it's like you know, like when it plays, you know that it's from that movie. Yes, if that makes sense. You know what I mean? Yeah, there are very few movies that can can give an instrumental sound that you're like that's from this movie.

SPEAKER_08

Do you know what other movie has? How's that?

SPEAKER_09

All right, P Sam. You will be missed. All right, P sam. Can we start saying that at Christmas? It's a dinosaur. And a dinosaur. Another dinosaur.

SPEAKER_01

And a T Rex.

SPEAKER_08

I'm trying to think if there's any other like movies I've seen recently. Maybe not. Okay, so iconic ones. You uh uh uh Star Wars.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I only know that I only know this because I have played that same song for almost every concert I've ever been in since I was a literally, I could probably just do it from memory.

SPEAKER_04

Honestly, any anything, uh these are aren't these all the same.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, they are they are what's his name?

SPEAKER_01

John Williams.

SPEAKER_04

John Williams.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I we did a whole John Williams concert when I was in middle school, high school, and in college. College twice. We did Indiana Jones, we did Star Wars, we did Harry Potter. We didn't do Superman, we did E.T. We did E.T. I'm pretty sure we did Jurassic Park. Is it John Williams? Are we sure about that?

SPEAKER_05

It's something Williams.

SPEAKER_10

It is something Williams.

SPEAKER_05

I thought it was John, but John doesn't sound right.

SPEAKER_10

No.

SPEAKER_04

Um, but yeah, Scotty Doesn't Know for sure. Oh, it is John Williams. It is John Williams, yeah. It is Scotty Doesn't Know for sure is one of those songs that's like it was it was made for that movie, and I love everything about it. I'm trying to think of other songs that were made for a specific movie.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, always love you.

SPEAKER_04

I will always love you, yeah. That's another one. Um also Kiss from a Rose was written for the Batman movie.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. And then um the new Taylor Swift song that came out was for the Toy Story.

SPEAKER_04

Um uh uh uh uh what was it? What was it? Kiss from a Rose, Batman, Jurassic, no, not Jurassic Park, Scotty doesn't know. Oh shoot, I had one and then I lost it. It was written for a movie. You said I will always love you. Um yeah, I don't know. It's gone. There was one, but it was gone. I I forget it. Oh yeah, R.I.P.

SPEAKER_08

R.I.P. That was my fault. I got too excited.

SPEAKER_04

Um well, let's talk about this list real quick. This list, this list, uh, this list of music stuff.

SPEAKER_08

Don't you love that we can be on time together when it's off beat? Isn't that that should be studied?

SPEAKER_04

So today we are talking about the top 10 greatest movie soundtracks of

Ranking The Top 10 Soundtracks

SPEAKER_04

all time. Uh, the criteria is we're judging song quality, how well the music fits into the movie, cultural impact, and the replay value. All right. So coming in at number 10, footloose. That's one that I forgot about. Absolutely. Footloose. The song Footloose, written for the movie Footloose. Footloose.

SPEAKER_01

Gotta cut loose, footloose, kick off a Sunday shoes.

SPEAKER_08

Please, Louise, check me, check me, did um the wedding that I was just at, they played that, and the the mom was dancing, the the mother of the broom was dancing, and she was all right. Everyone on the internet, don't mind me, okay? She's pulling one of these bad boys. She was she was Charlie Browning it. It was crazy. She was she she was getting into it.

SPEAKER_04

Um anyways. Do you by chance uh did they by chance play the Cotton Eye Joe? They had to have, right? At least twice.

SPEAKER_08

What that's what I said. I was doing the Cotton Eye Joe to all the to all the other dancers, all the other hoogly songs.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say, how are you gonna play Footloose, Hang On Snoopy, and Country Roads and Chicken Fried? And you okay, that was a choice then. Somebody made that choice. Somebody was like, Cotton I Joe is too far, too far.

SPEAKER_08

Um, yeah, no, no, no, Cottonite Joe. Uh, I did Cotton Eye Joe to Chicken Fried, and I did Macarena to all the other songs. Fair enough. Do which I got told I couldn't Macarena to the songs. And I was like, that's crazy. Will it macarena? Yes, it will. Anyways.

SPEAKER_04

Coming in at number nine, we have the movie Tarzan. Of course, that's another feature one. I didn't even think about Disney. The Lion King soundtrack.

SPEAKER_08

The Lion King, the upset.

SPEAKER_04

Get out of town, dude.

SPEAKER_08

The Little Mermaid.

SPEAKER_04

Tarzan, dude. Tarzan's soundtrack is uh, there's one song on there that'll tear me to shreds. Tear me to shreds. I've never seen. You should watch it. It's a beautiful film.

SPEAKER_08

I've heard, I just know I'm gonna cry. It's like that. Have you seen that Pokemon movie that's like loosely based on Tarzan?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, Zarud.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, that movie Secrets of the Jungle Wore Be Apart four times.

SPEAKER_04

It's one of their greatest movies.

SPEAKER_08

Buddy, I don't think uh there's like very few like movies where I'm like I was holding your baby.

SPEAKER_04

Ash's dad in that movie.

SPEAKER_08

I know it's crazy, anyway.

SPEAKER_04

And then and then Ash's dad in the series, Ash was going to finally see his dad, and then he got stuck helping that ghost boy and missed his dad's visit. Yeah, yeah, 30 years. This kid's waited to see his dad, and then he became the Pokemon champion, and he didn't even care.

SPEAKER_07

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_08

His dad was even there, his dad didn't even have a lot of things. Of all regions, his dad could never his dad's still on that journey.

SPEAKER_04

Anyways, uh coming in at number eight, we have the movie Eight Mile Classic MM, lose yourself in the music the moment you want it. Yeah, but you never let it go.

SPEAKER_08

I cannot remember the literature to that song right now. My brain doesn't.

SPEAKER_05

If you had five apples and somebody gave you three apples, how many apples you have?

SPEAKER_10

Eight apples.

SPEAKER_04

Lose yourself in the music, the moment you won't, and you better never let it go. You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance. Do not miss your chance.

SPEAKER_08

Opportunity comes once in a lifetime. Thank you for that brain reset. I needed that.

SPEAKER_04

My favorite math question at the beginning of any song. Look, if you had one shot, one shot, one opportunity. Um, number seven, purple rain. Another, I mean, it's Prince. Purple rain. Purple rain. Wasn't the movie written for the album, though?

SPEAKER_08

I dude, I've never listened to that album or seen the movie I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, dude, when doves cry, come on. See the one with the white wedding song? No, that's Billy Idol. No, you've gotta listen to When Doves Cry by Prince.

SPEAKER_08

No, I've heard that and I've heard Purple Rain. And for I've heard White Wedding. Purple Rain. And for some reason, I thought White Wedding was also messy.

SPEAKER_04

And then Prince also does uh Little Red Corvette and Kiss and Party Like It's 1999. Prince is great. Prince is great.

SPEAKER_08

Actually, I also know that one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Um, he's great. Eric Clapton was asked if he was uh how it felt to be the greatest guitar player of all time, and his response was I'm not sure. Ask Prince. Because Prince was a legend that nobody talked about. He did not get the recognition.

SPEAKER_08

Shout out Eric Clapton.

SPEAKER_04

Man played every instrument, wrote songs that people would not believe for artists that they would not believe.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

His catalog's crazy. Actually, can we go through that real quick?

SPEAKER_08

Oh, sure. Is Eric Clapton still alive?

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

Is he like 90?

SPEAKER_05

I mean he's pretty old.

SPEAKER_04

Uh nothing compares to you by Sinead O'Connor. Manic Monday by the Bangles. Just another Manic Monday.

SPEAKER_08

Dang, Eric Clapton is 81. He's a cutie batootie for being on.

SPEAKER_04

When you were mine by Cindy Lopper. Uh Stand Back by Stevie Nicks. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that were uh popping up as soon as I looked that up.

SPEAKER_00

So anyways. Oh yeah, dude, I forgot. School of Rock coming in at number five. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The song that they wrote for that song, baby, we were making straight A's. We were back in the dumb days. Ah because if you want to be the teacher's pet, ooh la la la. The girl better forget it.

SPEAKER_08

From iCarly, I can't think of her name right now. Miranda.

SPEAKER_04

Uh Carlisle. I don't know.

SPEAKER_08

No. What? No. Miranda something.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

She's in that.

SPEAKER_04

Um, coming in at number four, American Pie. Yeah. That soundtrack is iconic. It had songs from Blink 182, Third Eye Blind, Lit, Sugar Ray, and Green Day.

SPEAKER_08

That makes sense. Dude, I love Green Day. I really do. I love Green Day so much.

SPEAKER_04

Coming in at number three, Shrek 2.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Not Shrek 1. Shrek 2.

SPEAKER_08

Not somebody.

SPEAKER_04

Somehow every song fits perfectly. Huge variety, still love today. I don't know, man. I said the Shrek 1 soundtracks great, but like I don't I don't like Shrek enough to dive into the other ones.

SPEAKER_08

Here's the thing is the Shrek movies, uh they're fine. It is what it is. The soundtracks in each of those movies are absolute bangers, and they knew what they were doing.

SPEAKER_04

Fair enough.

SPEAKER_08

Like, I'll give them that. The soundtracks. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Alright. Uh coming in.

SPEAKER_08

That's the one where they have Shrek babies. Shrek 2.

SPEAKER_04

I uh no, I definitely not Shrek 2. Is that the one where that's dad dies? Yeah, that's the one where they go to the her parents.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. And then Shrek goes, someone better be dying.

SPEAKER_04

And they have and they have the um the fairy godmother and the handsome guy, Prince Jarmie.

SPEAKER_08

Honestly, that movie is really funny, and I think I might watch it tonight.

SPEAKER_04

I don't I don't like I've seen all of them a lot, and I don't like any of them.

SPEAKER_08

Well, somebody better be dying.

unknown

I'm dying.

SPEAKER_08

Dude, that's so funny. Anywho, continue.

SPEAKER_04

Number two, Guardians of the Galaxy. I've never seen it, but I've heard that the soundtrack is incredible.

SPEAKER_08

Phenomenal. Also, a great movie.

SPEAKER_04

Not a Marvel guy. I'm just not.

SPEAKER_08

I I don't I don't view them as being Marvel.

SPEAKER_04

Like I genuinely view them as being their own Danny loves Marvel.

SPEAKER_08

That makes a lot of sense. He seems like a Marvel guy.

SPEAKER_04

Danny is a Marvel kid. Um, yeah. And then coming in at number one, we have the movie Almost Famous, which you definitely have never seen. It's a solid movie. Um, I it's a solid movie. I wouldn't say it's a great movie. Yeah, uh, celebrates rock history, incredible mix of classic tracks, and the soundtrack is inseparable from the movie. I agree with that. Like it's got a lot of like classic rock songs, it's it's a decent movie. Um, but that is the top 10 list this week, guys. I liked, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

That was good. I mean, I do love movies.

SPEAKER_04

Um no, it's a solid list. I I also love movies, though those are good movies, but I would have put other movies for sure. Yeah, I can't think of any at the moment. I'm kind of fried at the moment.

SPEAKER_08

Can't believe Barbie's not on there. Barbie had a solid soundtrack. Yeah, a solid soundtrack. I agree with you. Your voice

Snubs Final Thoughts And Sign Off

SPEAKER_08

got high. No, you don't.

SPEAKER_04

No, I do agree with you. I think that uh Space Jam would have been one to put on that list, but R. Kelly was heavy on that one, so I get why it's not on there. Um, Fast and Furious.

SPEAKER_08

Fast and Furious should have been on there.

SPEAKER_04

Um, yeah, I'm trying to think of like soundtracks are tough because like again, like we were talking about, like, there are specific songs that are instrumentals from specific movies that I'm like, yeah, that is that movie. That is that movie, but I guess that's not the same as like a good soundtrack because those are artists that have actually made songs on those soundtracks.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, so but anyways, it is about that time. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry, sorry. Sorry, guys, it's 9 30. Yeah, I'm a sleepy boy. Uh I just want to thank everyone for listening. Thank you for all of our new listeners, and thank you. Uh thank you for hanging out with us today and everything that you guys do, and and we appreciate it. One thing you could do if if you wanted to just help us out a little bit, if you could subscribe, that would be great. But yeah, anyways, I'm gonna give it to Taylor to give her normal spiel.

SPEAKER_08

My spiel. I feel like next show, if we do it this late, we should just do an NPR show and we should see what happens.

SPEAKER_04

Uh hello everyone. Thank you for joining us for the Hogan Bridge podcast. Today we are covering the top 10 movie soundtracks. Uh Taylor.

SPEAKER_08

All right, guys.

SPEAKER_04

As you know, Taylor, it is your turn to give everybody in the audience what they've been waiting for. Uh, this is your quiet hour with Taylor.

SPEAKER_08

All right, everybody. Sorry. I had to. I could have gone one or two ways, but I was like, that's really funny if I do that. Um, all right, everybody. And if you could please check out our merch page. I really do want to see people get some of this merch because it's so cool. I'm really proud of what I've created. And uh, I don't know if you've looked at it yet, but like if you're listening and you haven't looked at it, go look at it. It's really cool stuff. Look at you, it really is. Look at it. You can look at it. Actually, if you don't buy anything and you see something that you like, just let me know that you like it, just get a hold of me and let me know that, like, hey, I really like this that you made, or if you have ideas for other merch, let me know.

SPEAKER_08

You also don't get a cut for those ideas, though.

SPEAKER_04

I put a lot of work into the merch and I'm really proud of a lot of the things, and I've bought a lot for myself and other people. Um, and if you're a songwriter out there, at least take a look at my songwriting notebook. It's a great notebook, it's a hardback notebook, and uh, it has a really cool cover, and on the back side, it has some lyrics that I wrote. Uh, so it's personal to me, and I'm selling it at cost, so I'm not I'm not charging any sort of markup on it, it's just at cost. I just want to get the hook and bridge name out there and provide something to my fellow songwriters that you can use and have around and keep for a long time. So yeah, anyways, thank you all again. It has been incredible. And as always, three, two, one, have fun, monsters. All right, everybody. We'll see you next week.
