We start where real hangouts actually start: life updates, side quests, and a Minecraft plan that gets weirdly serious. Chris and I break down our “civilizations” challenge with creative-mode rules, no item hoarding, no sneaky prep, and then a hard switch to survival where alliances matter. If you’ve ever turned a chill game into a competitive project with friends, you’ll recognize the energy fast.

Then we get to the main event: a Top 10 list of 80s songs that still hit hard today. We debate what makes a track timeless, argue taste, and dig into the stuff that keeps classics alive, big hooks, iconic intros, and riffs that are fun to play. Expect plenty of classic rock and pop culture staples like Take On Me, You Shook Me All Night Long, Billie Jean, Don’t Stop Believin’, Sweet Child O’ Mine, Jump, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Livin’ On A Prayer, Eye Of The Tiger, and of course Back In Black, plus a few movie soundtrack detours along the way.

We also try a music game called “Opposite Song Titles,” and it collapses almost immediately, which somehow makes the back half even better. From there it turns into rapid-fire music talk, band trivia, and a deep dive into Queen and Brian May’s guitar story. If you like music podcasts built on opinions, nostalgia, and actual laughs, this one is a solid ride.

Subscribe for more, share it with a friend who still blasts 80s classics, and leave a review with your pick for the most unbeatable 80s song.

Welcome Back And Catching Up

SPEAKER_01

What's up, everybody? Welcome back to the show. I am your host, Harley, joined by my co-host, Chris. Chris, how are you, sir?

SPEAKER_00

I'm good.

SPEAKER_01

That's good. That's good. I'm good. I'm okay. Uh, what's going on, man? What's new?

Minecraft Civilizations With House Rules

SPEAKER_00

Not much. Not much. As you know, I've been playing the shit out of Minecraft. Yeah, we should tell the people what we what we're doing, I think. So we're building this camp with the train that goes to the camp. Everybody, it's really cool. It's really cool.

SPEAKER_03

In Minecraft.

SPEAKER_01

So what we're actually doing is we have um it was me, Chris, and Noah got together and decided that we were going to build civilizations in Minecraft with a couple of small rules. The first one was we get two weeks on creative mode to just build up our civilization with the caveat that none of us can store any items. You can have chests, but they all have to be empty. You cannot lay like iron block or diamond blocks or anything like that. You cannot prep yourself for that level of success. Um, just building and beautifying your area, essentially, is what we're doing. Then at the two-week mark, we cut off creative mode, we go into survival, and we have to build actual civilizations. Chris has his, I've got mine, Noah has his, and you can recruit people to come and join your civilization. Uh Noah already has what three people?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I have zero.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And and I'll say this I don't know anybody, so I'm gonna force my kids to.

SPEAKER_02

I got a second Xbox.

SPEAKER_00

It's in the mail.

SPEAKER_01

Did you actually buy an Xbox? Yeah, that's hilarious. Um, so uh I called in my favor. I asked Taylor to join me, and she said no. So it's just me, dude.

SPEAKER_00

That sucks. I might see if Danny wants to play. Dude, I walked in the office this morning and Noah goes. So are we plotting? I was like, Harley is so screwed.

Recruiting Players And Talking Strategy

SPEAKER_01

So uh I might I might see if like Danny wants to play, or if any fans of the show feel like playing Minecraft with us, um, you're welcome to let me know. Share it in the comments or send me a message and uh join my civilization to help me conquer the world. Um, but no, it's it's been a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_00

Harley Harley plans on running a slave state, North Korea or France.

SPEAKER_01

So I what I actually am doing is building a little miniature America with a full 100% open democracy. Um we gotta be careful. This isn't off the record. Oh, that's true, that's true. Music, everybody. We are a music show. We're gonna be doing some fun music stuff today. So we're gonna be going over a list of the top 10 80 songs that still hit hard today, and we're gonna play a fun music-themed game after that list. Uh, it's called Opposite Song Titles from the 90s and early 2000s, and basically it's going to give us a bunch of song titles that are supposed to be the opposite uh of the original title, and we have to guess what song it is uh uh based off of the opposite. Does that make sense?

Taylor Update And Show Setup

SPEAKER_00

Thank you, chat. Yes, yes, it does. Oh, wait a second, wait a second, wait a second. Taylor's news. Mom came to visit.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. There you go. Yeah, yeah. My mom went down to Florida to visit Taylor. Uh that's why she's not on the show today. She's hanging out with my mom and my aunt.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and your mom and your aunt didn't come visit you.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, they flew straight from Ohio down to Florida. But I believe that my mom is coming to visit me next weekend. I believe. Is that Easter? I don't maybe. I think so. She's coming down the weekend of Easter. Uh yeah, that's next weekend. Damn, that's crazy. So, yeah, she'll be here um next week. I I got distracted because I was looking at the the questions here, and I'm realizing that all of the questions have the answers below it. So I guess we're gonna be testing your music knowledge. Great, that's an unfortunate thing to find out in the middle of the show. I apologize.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, listen, right, most of the names of the songs that I own.

Phasmophobia Stream Test Run

SPEAKER_01

Well, this is gonna be fun, it's gonna be a blast. Poor planning on my part, guys. Um we played Phasmophobia today, not we, but I played Phasmophobia with Danny today.

SPEAKER_00

You've cheated you on me with Danny.

SPEAKER_01

Did you uh watch? Did you did you watch it? You didn't watch it?

SPEAKER_02

No, I was at work.

SPEAKER_01

We guessed the ghost in like four minutes. It was the quickest round of phasmophobia I think I've ever played.

SPEAKER_00

Four minutes? That's that's a that's pretty average time that you yeah, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was quick, dude.

SPEAKER_00

That leads to like recuddling.

SPEAKER_01

We got um we got all of the evidence, it gave us all three pieces of evidence in like 40 seconds.

SPEAKER_00

Like boom, boom, boom.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've yeah, literally, like I got emfive, and then uh he laid down the salt and had the UV ghost walk through the salt, and he was like, Oh, we got UV, and then um checked the thermostat and we had the freezing temps. And I was like, All right, well, there we go. Got all three, and time to move on. Um, but no, it was it was a test run for what we're gonna be doing for the uh dark side of music, um, and making sure I've never done like Twitch or anything, so it was to make sure like all that stuff worked and everything went well, and yeah, everything works, everything turned out fine. Audio look or audio sounded good, video looked good, so we'll be doing that here soon. Um yeah, that's pretty much it. You don't have anything going on in your life?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, I did get this now. Okay, I'm super stoked. It took like a month to get here. I ordered it before Pokemon Day.

SPEAKER_01

You ordered this before Pokemon Day?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Amazon was slow on the roll there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's dope. That is dope. I have just the Charizard.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, I have just the Charmander.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I see that. I see that.

SPEAKER_00

So, yes, that's it. We're getting we're getting more chickens. You're getting more chickens, yeah. We're getting chicks.

SPEAKER_01

Are you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

In in our Minecraft world, I made you a whole bunch of rabbits, and I was gonna tell you, look, it's not that hard. I don't know why you suck at this. I just click this button and then boom, rabbit.

SPEAKER_00

Harley's better at raising rabbits than me. Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh so yeah, I have them in our in our little market area, just a shit ton of rabbits, and and uh I have some some chickens over there too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, not not until I tell my daughter to go torch them all. Uh, you know, it is what it is. Caitlin, execute order 66. Do it, do it.

Star Wars Hot Takes

SPEAKER_01

Oh how big of a Star Wars fan are you?

SPEAKER_00

Meh. You know, I like stormtroopers and clones. That's it. That's all I like. Really? Yeah, like I'm not a Darth Vader fan. Ewok are meh, they're shootable. Um I do not like the rebels.

SPEAKER_01

I stormtroopers are my least favorite part of Star Wars. Dude, they look dope and they match. I mean, okay, alright. They look dope, they match, they're all white.

SPEAKER_03

Oh god. All right, Chris.

SPEAKER_01

Just call me out there. You didn't you didn't like like the Jedi's and the Sith? You didn't like that dichotomy?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, I mean the Sith are cool, their lore is cooler than the Jedi's, but I mean Mace Windu is the best. I don't care.

SPEAKER_01

Mace Windu? That's the only Jedi I like. You didn't uh you didn't dive too far into like the Jedi lore then, like the the gray.

SPEAKER_00

I just yes, yeah. I just think the Sith are cooler.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, yeah, the Sith are cooler. Specifically Anakin, uh hot take, Darth Vader, worst character in Star Wars. His suit sucks, it's kind of dumb. He looks kind of dumb. Dude, you have to remember when that was made, though. Like, yeah, no, I know.

SPEAKER_00

It's like watching a black and white movie, being like, these graphics suck.

SPEAKER_01

But like they carried forward that that storyline from those movies is what carried the rest of the movies around, and Anakin Skywalker in episode three, far better than Darth Vader ever could be. You don't think? Like looks-wise, like looks, like he just looked cooler. Really? Okay. You you're a sucker for somebody in a pseudo armor.

SPEAKER_00

I am, I am very much so.

SPEAKER_01

Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series. Did you watch that on uh Disney Plus? It was fantastic.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't watched Ahsoka either.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't watched that one. I haven't watched that one. But uh Obi-Wan Kenobi I thought was a fantastic series. I really wish they would do more of that, like covering the that gap between episode three and four is really really cool because there's there's a decent chunk of time between the two, there's like 20 years between the two in in the world, yeah. Yeah, but anyways. Alright, well, if you don't uh if you don't have anything going on in your world, I guess we'll jump into the music stuff.

Top 80s Songs List Starts

SPEAKER_00

Music, music.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so today we're gonna be doing a list of the top 10 80 songs that still hit today. We are going to start with number 10. I I picked 80s because I figured that both of us would know all of these songs, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

I might know a good bit of them.

SPEAKER_01

I think so. I think you'll know all these songs. Uh, coming in at number 10, we've got Take On Me by the band Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

No clue.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really? Take on me. Take on me. Come on. Oh, yeah, I don't like that song. Take me on. Yeah, I don't like that. I'll be gone. Ready, ready? In a day or two. Um, so we've got that coming in at number 10. I think that's an incredible song. I can't you don't like that song?

SPEAKER_00

That's wild. I think you've got shitty taste. Look at your co-host. Look at your co-host. You have the shittiest taste.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think that song is like one of those uh one of those songs when it comes on the radio, like I'm I'm not gonna change it.

SPEAKER_00

No, me either. Honestly, like no. I'm I'm with you.

SPEAKER_01

It's the intro.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

ACDC Riffs And Learning Guitar

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

This next one though, coming in at number nine, you shook me all night long by ACDC.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, of course.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, man. Yeah, back in black album, classic song. Um, sounds like every other song on that album. Did you know guitar wise? I did know that.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

You did, yeah. Oh, sure. All right, cool. No, go on. So guitar wise on that album, all of the songs are the same, and it was done on purpose.

SPEAKER_00

Why? So they were they were just like, hey, we can do this and people will buy it.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, they they just wanted a song that would live on for like guitar players. So the entire album, front to back, structurally is the same, but different variations of the same. So it's like a great like intro to music for younger guitar players to be able to learn these songs and like enjoy the band more, you know what I mean? Because they that album came out after um after not Bon Scott, the the first guy. Um I can't remember his name, but the first guy from ACDC died. Um, then Bon Scott took over. Um, and then they had the the album before Back in Black, which was very, very technical and um very like solo driven, where this album was like a much more cutback, simpler album, and it was so that they could take like the longevity of the band. That that album is pretty much what solidified the longevity of ACDC as like a legendary band, because generationally kids can listen to that album, and it became like the new smoke in the water or smoke on the water, you know what I mean? Like anybody can on the water is but oh so like anybody can play that song on guitar, but anyone can also jump in and pay play black uh back in black. So, like anyone, I dude, I could teach you back in black in probably 10 minutes. I doubt no joke.

SPEAKER_00

I bet I could low learner. So, like, dude, dude, dude. So welcome home made me want to learn to play the play the guitar, right? And trying to play Welcome Home also made me quit. I was like, nope, nope, I don't, I don't, I ain't got it.

SPEAKER_01

We should do a mini-series on Patreon where I teach you a song. Oh god, please be wop. Um, but anyways, back in black number nine. Uh, fantastic song, fantastic album, fantastic band. Uh, it's a timeless riff, and uh it still is strong today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just all around kick ass.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, ACDC is all around kick ass.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Coming in at number eight, we have Billy Jean by Michael Jackson.

SPEAKER_00

Oh shit, yes, yes. How's that not higher on the list?

SPEAKER_01

I agree, but when you see number one, you're gonna be like, ah, okay, yeah, that makes sense. Um, so Billy Jean, Michael Jackson, that um that album I believe was titled Billy Jean. I think that was the name of that album. Um, or was it Thriller? It might have been Thriller that Billy Jean was on. I forget, but I think Michael Jackson has probably more hits than any artist from the 80s, right? I would think because you got you got Billy Jean, you got um Bad, you have um Thriller, obviously. Uh Man in the Mirror, I think that came out later. But Billy Jean's fantastic song. Have you ever heard um Chris Cornell's version of that song?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you you would love that uh version of that song. It sounds like um, you know the band Audio Slave?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

It sounds a lot like Audio Slave. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'll check it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's good. It's good. Um coming in at number seven, we have Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Obviously, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, my uh my middle daughter's over there dance. She's I can hear her like whispering it and dancing. Yeah, just a small hair girl, dude. Um oh okay, so like Rock of Ages. Oh, yeah, yeah. The musical, dude, like every song that came on. I'm like, fuck yeah. Like, dude.

SPEAKER_01

Uh wasn't Alec Baldwin in that and and Russell uh Brand.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh, I forgot about that movie. That's a good movie.

SPEAKER_00

That is a great movie.

SPEAKER_01

Lindsay introduced me to that movie because uh there's there's a version of um Kiss uh the band Kiss Detroit Rock City is in that song in that movie, yeah. Um yeah, we love that movie. That's a great movie. Have you ever seen Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg?

SPEAKER_00

What does it sound familiar? Was that like uh early 2000s and maybe late?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've seen and and he like he's a fan of a band, and then the lead singer of that band quits, and then he becomes the lead singer of that band.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah, it sounds familiar.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's a good ass movie, dude. But the music in that uh movie is awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Um of course it's a badass movie, it's got Mark Wahlberg in it. I haven't seen anything with Mark Wahlberg that wasn't like the happening? Have you ever seen the happening? Fuck yeah, the horror movie. He's talking to the he's like, please don't kill us. We're just here. He was like, Oh, it's a fake movie. What? No.

SPEAKER_01

They go to the house with the old lady, and she has the shotgun in his face, and she's like, You're gonna kill me, you're gonna rape me, and you're gonna kill me. And then he's like, What? We would never do that. Such a good movie, dude. That movie's so good. I love that movie. Um, when it came out, I thought it was genuinely like a very good horror movie, and then the older I got and the more movies that I saw, I was like, Oh, this is a comedy. This is not a horror movie at all. Oh man. What about uh uh speaking of Mark Wahlberg um and sort of music related? Have you ever seen um um oh what's that movie where uh where he plays as um as the the porn star, him and uh uh John C. Riley?

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea. I haven't seen that.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no. Um man, people are yelling at me right now. They know that movie. Um hold on, sorry. Side side quest here.

SPEAKER_00

So while while Harley types. You guys should you guys should definitely message us and let us know if Harley should dye his beard and what color he should dye it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, tell us in the comments. I'm I'm voting for pink. Um it is the movie Boogie Nights. Have you ever seen Boogie Nights? No. Dude, you've got to see that movie. It's incredible. Um there's a part speaking of it's this is all music related. I'm bouncing it back to music I swear. Just keep saying music.

SPEAKER_00

That's what makes it music related.

Van Halen Lyrics And Connex Boxes

Def Leppard Bon Jovi And Rocky Trivia

Number One Pick And Iron Man Debate

Opposite Song Titles Game Crashes

SPEAKER_01

Music. So there's a part in the movie where uh Mark Wahlberg and John C. Riley are uh doing just massive amounts of coke speaking of coke um doing massive amounts of coke and they get the idea that they're gonna start a band and and then uh they they go to like a recording studio and they record horrible music like just trash music and then they don't have the money to pay the recording studio so they show up for like the music and they're like no what you don't understand is we need the tapes because we're gonna take those tapes and then we're gonna go make an album and then that is how we get the money to pay you for the tapes you might own the tapes but the magic that's on those tapes that magic belongs to us dude it's it's so good. It's such a funny movie oh man anyways uh coming in at number seven we have sweet child of mine guns and roses I love guns and roses I'm not a fan do you love guns and roses I love guns and roses fuck yeah of course you do brother you I'm gonna be honest with you you look like somebody that loves guns and roses well dude I told you the story like uh for I think I was like seven and then like oh yeah yeah I got appetite for destruction yeah I dude that was that was one of them it was like so that's what I listened to for like shit till I was like 15 we never had internet like it was if you have it on CD you can listen to it you look like your parents are guns and roses and leonard skinned oh and your mountain dew like like those three like you remember uh the Powerpuff girls yeah that's what that is it's like Leonard Skinnard Def Leopard Cigarette Butt yeah Guns and Roses Marvel Reds and a little bit of Mountain Dew yeah I like to party so I want I want my Jesus to party oh man um I like that song sweet child of mine's a good song dude Tunes and Roses that album Appetite for Destruction is one of the greatest albums of all time slash is an incredible guitar player and Axl Rose um God willing will be somebody's great grandmother someday um I like the stepbrother's version of that song better though. Thousand dollars an hour for music lessons or for voice lessons and this is what I get you're flat uh coming in at number five my favorite suicide song jump by Van Halen you might as well jump um so did you know that is what that song's about is it really yeah it's about a guy at a bar telling another guy that he thinks he wants to commit suicide wait I think we're thinking of the different song nope that's it does it and that guy's response is you might as well jump he's telling him like all of like how terrible his life has gone everything that's gone wrong and his response is I would do it dude okay so so so so oh god so I don't know if I've ever actually heard the actual song I just heard that that that small part from the movie sing oh really with the frogs are singing it you might yeah that's funny that's horrible why is that in a kid's movie uh it's a great song should we read the lyrics you want to read the lyrics no I don't know I need uppers not downers we broke it we broke it down um on some episode at some point me and Taylor um but yeah it is it is about a guy telling another guy how terrible his life is and then he's like maybe it's just time to end it Harley if it ever gets that way with you I will tell you oh thanks you could just send me the link to that song that's what I would do that's it's because you're lazy I'm gonna sing the song to you also what a great way to prevent suicide as well because like I've I've never been to that level so I can't I can't truly relate um but in my head I feel like if I was in that situation with myself and that song came on yeah how do you not dance like it's a very like all right it's a good song let me I'll give it another three minutes you know I can step down for a minute or two um anyways we're definitely getting canceled today that's all right we had a good run I Harley guys everybody I do not condone that I would not let Harley do that knowingly these are all jokes everybody everything's fine everything's fine we're doing great yeah I would lock him up my connex box in the backyard you got a con X box maybe dude I want a con X box is your con X box like buried in the yard no you can't bury con X boxes oh why dude dude you'll see people in videos doing it without reinforcing them okay so the connex boxes are reinforced at the corners right yeah yeah yeah yeah so dirt is very heavy so when that dirt is pushing in from the side when people go to backfill it might not happen instantly but it yeah yeah so anyone trying to build a bunker out there if you're gonna use a connex box don't just bury it in the dirt to all my preppers out there do your research don't watch those yahoos on YouTube is that that should be what we call our fans the preppers the preppers I was thinking it's the whole hook and bridge argument you know what I mean like are you a hooker for a bridger bridgerton or hookerton um why people in the comments tell us what you think our fans should be called what do you want to be called because I don't know I've I've we're coming up on five years I've never figured that out listen I want to call all of you hookers that's what I want to call you so the hooker army yeah my my legion of hookers so I I've always wanted a con Xbox I don't know what for like I just want one does that make sense like I see people that have them and I see the videos online and I'm like I want that I don't need it I have no reason to have it but I would like to have it I've seen some really cool dope ass ones I've seen people make them into like recording studios like build full on like man pads out back and like yeah I would like one well guess what you're getting for Christmas big boy a con Xbox Lindsay's gonna be pissed how do you even get that to a house like I I can understand getting it to like a job site or getting it like to a workplace but like how does it get in my yard because you can't lift it right forklift crane it all just crane they'll crane it at my house yeah yeah yeah I've got some I've got some hookups uh I know a guy with a helicopter so Christmas morning it's gonna be lowered into your backyard Santa Claus just in a black hawk just Lindsay can't make you get rid of it she doesn't know anybody with a helicopter that is true yeah we don't know well I mean we know Santa Claus but he has a sleigh and those reindeer can't lift a con X box no no he he needs uh uh some support from the good USA uh military so number oh sorry number four we have pour some sugar on me by def leopard dude it makes me never mind it makes you what go ahead nothing makes me want to take my shirt off and go dance on the hood of my wife's car um I fun fact I love def leopard like love def leopard dude you you don't even def leopard sucks I'm joking it's a Joe Dirt reference everybody uh what what was that he said it's uh it's Sam Sam Hagar not I can't remember the quote from from uh Joe Dirt um but like as far as deaf leopard goes I feel like people don't realize how many Def Leopard songs you know like it's a lot dude hysteria hysteria um obviously pour some sugar on me um two steps behind was another great one bringing on the heartache or heartbreak you remember that one not by name no uh love bites love bites love bleeds uh animal song animal and I won't and I need an ammo anything anything no really um I guess my parents weren't deaf leopard fans uh let's get rocked Armageddon um two steps behind rock of ages full in I think that's all the ones that I know but like there's a lot of def leopard songs def Leopard's awesome def Leopard sucks I would say pour some sugar on me not a great song I don't really care for that song what it's fine it's fine I'm hot sticky sweet from my head from my head to my feet now yeah it makes dude I can't hear that in the car without being like whipping my non existent hair yeah it always reminds me of strip clubs dude always it reminds me with of any scene in a movie where like the chick's watching the car that yeah for sure or like a girl's dancing in any movie like like if there's a scene in like a gangster movie and they're going into some sort of a club they like zoom in on the crowd and it's always that song playing and women dancing in the club and then it like slowly takes you to a table with like people like dealing drugs. Like it uh it's it's an overused song I would say it's still a good song but like it's just not my favorite Deaf Leopard song um coming in at number three we have Livin'Out of prayer Bon Jovi yes yeah that's like that's where Bon Jovi belongs number three is a good spot for Bon Jovi specifically that's my favorite Bon Jovi song too oh god you sound like my car with a flat uh coming in at number two we have Eye of the Tiger by Survivor oh shit dude my grandpa loved that song like Eye of the Tiger dude I think it was on like every playlist I thought it was just Sylvester Stallone that loved that song no my grandfather also loved Sylvester Stallone so of course he did yeah Sylvester Stallone was like this is a pretty good movie I like that song I'm emailing him your address um so Sylvester Stallone uh hired survivor for that movie if it wasn't for Sylvester Stallone Survivor would not exist today I believe because because Eye of the Tiger was written for Rocky so like they didn't they didn't know um that they were going to be writing that song Sylvester Stallone saw them at a bar liked the band he was working on the movie and insisted that they hire that band for the movie and then they were presented with the movie and they're like we need a fight song so um in the song this is like the coolest fact about this song I know I joked but like I have the tiger is a good song um and this specific fact makes it even cooler. So you know how um sorry uh you know how in the song it goes do dun dun dun dun so each one of those lines up with every punch during the fight between Rocky and um not Drago. Who did he fight in the first one? Apollo Apollo yeah Apollo Creed so every every fist thrown in that fight at the end lines up with that song. So they were watching yeah they were watching that scene while they were writing the song and the the guitar player was sitting there just strumming that one chord over and over and then they just kept watching the scene over and over and over and he finally just started going boom boom boom boom and they're like hold up a second I think we got something yeah so so during that scene each one of those lines up with a punch thrown in that scene oh that's cool and that's how the song became what it is so there you go. And now we have no reason to have survivor on the show because that's the only story there is that is a that is the coolest story that I've ever heard Harley make up before I wish that I made that up that's genius. And it is it is real there's um one of the strangest scenes in in cinema is in that movie where uh Rocky's talking about uh Adrian and somebody calls Adrian uh retarded and he goes she's not retarded she's just shy and I was like you sir could not you can't make this movie today there's no way crazy I have to do this so my mom has done this since we were kids so cancel me if you want I don't care um anytime she would hear one of us kids call the other one retarded she'd my mom would come in and go I'm not with haunted I'm that the little float you can cut that if you want Harley but dude I just I still do it to my kids like well I think it's from a movie isn't it I'm pretty sure that's from a movie yeah I'm pretty sure that's from a movie so um no different movie uh and it's not for scump either um so coming in at number one do you have any idea what number one might be boats and hose oh so close so close it's an 80s theme so uh the answer is back in black by ACDC oh anticlimactic I know yeah um that's a great song though out of uh out of the the 80s songs that like are still big hits today kind of makes sense everybody knows that song and that song was in Iron Man that song was in so many movies um yeah but that's which which always messed me up with Iron Man they pick they played back in black instead of instead of Iron Man instead of Iron Man like that would have been dope as shit him coming out of the cave yeah like really well and they also played a lot of audio slave in that movie speaking of audio slave for the second time in this show but they did they played a lot of audio slave yeah that that that messed me up I don't I didn't know why like I still don't like really yeah yeah they definitely should have but but it fit the scene like still a great great song man for for everybody listening Harley plays guitar much better than he plays air guitar ice part of me wanted to just bust out of guitar and start playing it there's one directly behind me um I'm gonna learn Laley just so I can do that and be like oh yeah like this song Temp too through the window she had a tune a ukulele like this ukulele no I said xylophone now pull one of those out I have a gong you want me to get a gong no don't get the gong don't get the gong don't get the gong I have a triangle I have a gong I have a triangle I have what's that thing that people play where it's like the theremin what'd you call me I would like a theremin those are so weird I would like one of those I would like uh uh a Glockenspiel I can get you a Glock different one different one um all right so we're gonna dive in to this game here um today's game Is going to be the opposite song titles game where I give you the title of a song. The song is the opposite, or the title I'm giving you is the opposite of what the actual title is. Your job is to figure out the title of the actual song. These, even if you don't know music, you can use your your decisive context clues to figure out opposites, and I bet you get most of them.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not good with clues. Ask my wife.

SPEAKER_01

For the first one, this is just a warm-up song. These are all gonna be uh 90s and 2000s themed, but for the first one, we're gonna do something simple um that is not nineties or two thousands themed. Uh the title is good lady. Bad man. So it's bad guy, but you get the concept.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh bad guy by Billy Eilish. What's in her eyelash? Um actually. Never mind. This is not correct. Wow, they suck at this. Yeah, I guess we're not gonna be playing this game. Um, so I'm just gonna read some of these. You would have got all of them, actually. Um I'm not gonna call out this website. I feel bad. Um so the second question that they have on here, which is supposed to be the beginning of the round, the song is called Bye Bye Bye. Do you know what the answer is, Chris?

SPEAKER_00

Bye bye bye.

SPEAKER_01

It's bye bye bye. It is not the opposite of anything. It's the answer, it's the answer. The next one was small things. Could you possibly guess what that one's supposed to be? Big nothing.

SPEAKER_00

No, all the small things. This person doesn't know what opposite means. The next one was no scrubs. The answer is no scrubs. No, no, no, no. The answer is all street clothes.

SPEAKER_01

The next one, say my name quietly. Which of course is the song Say My Name by Destiny's Child.

SPEAKER_02

Say my name, say my name.

SPEAKER_01

The next one, cry me a river. Can you guess what that song is? Dude, cry me a river. I mean, come on, guys.

SPEAKER_02

Cry me a river. Oh, cry me a river.

SPEAKER_00

We we say that to the kids all the time.

SPEAKER_01

The next one, okay. They got a little creative on this one. Buckle up, cold out there.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Warm in here, hot in here by Nelly. Oh man. The next one, lose yourself slowly, which of course is lose yourself by MM.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, dude, that is like super bad AI generated, is what that is.

SPEAKER_01

I yeah, this is rough. The next one, I don't want it that way, which of course is me.

SPEAKER_00

One person wants it that way. I want it that way.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow. Dirty little secret, which of course is dirty little secret. All American rejects. I mean, this is just terrible.

Random Picks And Nostalgia Spiral

SPEAKER_00

Here, I've got a better idea. I got a better idea. So I buy my music, so I am going to just fling it. And talk and we'll talk about it. All right. I'm ready. Yeah, what a disaster. This is okay. I okay. Animosity by Chain Saint.

SPEAKER_01

That was what are the odds? Well, you know what? You know what? I take it back. We do love that song. I almost said what are the odds, but then I realized that probably most of your catalog are bands that would be vendor. No. No.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no. Very small. Let's see. I'll do another one. Well, also on this page is I like it by Cardi B.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, Cardi B.

SPEAKER_00

I fucking love that song. I don't know why. Don't fucking know why. I like Cardi B. Um, okay. Um, this page is not a good one. You wouldn't know most of these. Oh, here we go. Love and hugging by Hank Williams III.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. All right. We were loving and hugging in a Hank Williams the third.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Is that um that's not Junior, right? No, it's that would be Junior's son?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. I didn't know. I'll be completely honest with you. I did not know that Hank Williams Jr.'s son also did music.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I just saw that.

SPEAKER_00

If you like that that that twangy, I do.

SPEAKER_01

I thought Hank Williams Jr. was fine. I thought Hank Williams Sr. was okay. I was more of a Conway Twitty guy myself. Woo. How do we feel about Dolly Parton?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I think Dolly Parton is exceptionally overrated.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, nine to five.

SPEAKER_01

Working nine to five.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man, that's iconic.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, I'll give you that one.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, here we go. Have you ever heard of the longest Johns?

SPEAKER_01

No, tell me about them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, dude.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you gotta look into the longest Johns? Or the longest Johnsons?

SPEAKER_00

No, the longest Johns.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

What kind of what kind of band are they? I don't even know how to explain them. You buy one album and you're getting like all different genres. Um, it's definitely like folk. All right. It's the best way I can.

SPEAKER_01

Sort of sort of like um like uh Mumford and Sons.

SPEAKER_00

Don't play it.

SPEAKER_01

Sort of like a like a Mumford and Sons, though, or like uh like a Lumineers type.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

If you're gonna check something out though, look at beer is great. That's a good one.

SPEAKER_01

You ever heard uh the beer song from Psycho Stick? No, beer, beer, beer, beer is good and stuff, beer, beer, beer is good and stuff.

SPEAKER_00

I will definitely be checking it out now. Bring me some beer. Okay, here we go. Here we go. Just a girl, no doubt.

SPEAKER_01

Um, just a girl, then in captivity, yeah. I like no doubt. I like um I like that song. I like spiderwebs more. I think yeah, spiderwebs is like a really cool song.

SPEAKER_00

Um actually, no doubt.

SPEAKER_01

Um there's another song that Underneath It All. I think that song is incredible.

SPEAKER_02

That is awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Underneath it all.

SPEAKER_02

No one, no one, no one.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Okay, here we go. Nope. X gonna give it to you. No, I was close. Country grammar, Bunelli.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, hell yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's see what we got here.

SPEAKER_01

Country grammar, how does that one go? Um that's not getting hot in here. Why do I have that stuck in my head? Country grammar. Uh uh.

SPEAKER_00

Try to go back now.

SPEAKER_01

What are the words of that song? Country grammar.

SPEAKER_02

I'm going downtown, baby. Let it go.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Give it to me now.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, dude, Nelly, Nelly fucking rocked back in the day. Fuck you, still rocks. What are you talking about? Yeah, I mean, yeah, like to you and me, but like kids aren't listening to Nelly anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Here's another one, Killer Queen by Queen. She's a killer queen.

SPEAKER_01

I love that song. Yeah, I ended up buying the one where it was like avoid conversation. She never kept the same address.

SPEAKER_00

What is it? 30 songs or 40 songs or something? It was like album or complete.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, they're like complete, yeah, yeah. It's like the gray cover.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, dude.

Brian May Guitar Story And DIY Builds

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, Queen, I mean, Queen in in itself is incredible. Yes. Um, do you know the the story about the guitar um that the guitar player uses in Queen? No. Um, so um why can't I think of his name all of a sudden? Um, I want to give him his name for the audience. I think it's Brian May. Yeah, Brian May. So Brian May, let me pull up uh an image here and pull it up on the on the stream real quick. Um here we go. Share screen. Share. Okay, so this guitar right here, that one right there.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Um, that guitar he has had since I think like he was a kid. His house um, I believe burnt down, and him and his dad used the wood from that fire to make that guitar. That's a handcrafted guitar from him and his dad.

SPEAKER_02

What?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And he's had that that guitar for like a very, very long time. I don't I don't I don't know the exact date. Um, it's been a very long time since I read that story. Um, he's also a scientist. Did you know that? No. Yeah, he's a he was a college professor for a little bit. Um songwriter, famous for his orchestral riffs. He also he's also a doctor in astrophysics. Well, and he was knighted in 2005.

SPEAKER_00

Well, so you brought up um Dolph Lundgren earlier. Did you know he's a fan uh smarty pants? Fancy pants. He's like uh sorry, you just mentioned scientist.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Dolph. Yeah, there's only one Dolph. Yeah. Uh master in chemical engineering.

SPEAKER_01

Really? I didn't know that. Same thing with um the lead singer from The Offspring. He is also a college professor of some sort. That's pretty dope. Yeah. Brian May, when Queen like was done, went back to teaching and like went back to school, got another degree, and then started studying other stuff too. Yeah. Like he currently, I believe, is still like a professor. That's dope. Yeah. But no, his guitar story. I'm I'm gonna get that story for the next podcast, and we'll go over it in detail. Um, because I want to make sure I get it right. But I remember when I was in high school reading an article in a magazine uh called Guitar World about it, and about how him I know for a fact him and his dad made that guitar. I don't remember the rest of the details about it. I believe there was a house fire. I believe they used the wood from that house fire to craft the body and craft the neck. So, anyways. Um, I mean that dude, that guitar is awesome. It's the same one he's been playing the whole time. It's how they they're like very like specific tones to that guitar. The the internals that they used weren't like it wasn't like a factory Gibson, you know what I mean? Like they Frankenstein's this thing. So like that's where that like warm tone comes from. Um, yeah, it's very, very cool story. Um I have a guitar that I made. Uh actually that one right there. I made that one.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I wish that was I knew that was gonna come up. I'd have been like, me too. Cardboard. I bought cardboard with a Swiffer tape to it.

SPEAKER_01

I bought a kit from a company called Solo Guitars during the pandemic because I had been playing guitar for like 12 years or so, and I had I I had no knowledge of like how a guitar worked, if that makes any sense. Like I could play, but I couldn't put one together.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, quick question Do you plan on forcing Adam to learn to play guitar?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no. Come on. No, no plans, no plans. I hope that he likes it. I hope he like wants to pick it up. Um, I know he's very into drums right now, so I'm I'm thinking about maybe putting him in like a in a drumming class.

SPEAKER_00

You should do the whole hand. What I'm saying is he's still small enough. You should do the little hand print paint, clear coat it. Oh, that would be cool. That would be cool. If he does pick it up, be like, hey, look, that's your hand print.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I should do that. I might do that. That's a good idea.

SPEAKER_00

And you have that silver one.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, yeah, from the trash.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh okay. I got another song. Okay. You might know this. Simple Plan. Oh, yeah. What's new? What's new Scooby-Doo?

SPEAKER_04

Na na.

SPEAKER_00

It's still the coolest Scooby-Doo song I've ever heard.

SPEAKER_01

It's every simple plan song. They're all what's new Scooby-Doo. Except for perfect. That one's what new Scooby-Doo sad version.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's see. Let's see, let's see. Oh, I'm at the end. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Oh shit.

SPEAKER_00

Perfect timing. Amber by 311. 311. Yeah, dude. No, they're called 311.

SPEAKER_01

311. 311 is one of my all-time favorite bands. I love Amber. Amber is the color of your energy all day, every day. Thank you. Um, dude, 311 kicks ass. I love that band. Have you ever seen the lead singer? No, no, dude. He is jacked as a mother.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, so the only thought that comes to my mind is where my mom drove a bus growing up, and like that's when the buses were allowed to like crank whatever they wanted to on the radio.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's this song. I'm in like fucking second grade. You know, I'm riding the bus with all the high schoolers. My mom just like jamming out I I heard it come on Pandora and was like, oh shit, I gotta buy this.

SPEAKER_01

So this is the lead singer for 311 today. That first picture is him in the 90s. That second picture is him now.

SPEAKER_00

Why did you why did you type in shirtless? It was already in my yeah. Why was it already in your history? Look at that, dude. Look at this guy. I don't want to look at that. Look at that. His abs have abs. I don't want to look at that.

SPEAKER_01

You're crazy. You're lying to yourself. You're lying to yourself you don't want to look at that. I don't the dude is a goddess. You mean god? No. Oh man. All right. Will. Ah. That was our episode, guys. That was fun. I uh I enjoy um I enjoy looking at your playlist.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Um, all right. Well, I reckon we'll have to we'll have to call this one quits. Oh, where's Taylor when you need her?

SPEAKER_00

Right? Yeah, she's so talkative. What do you guys think? Hey, hookers, let me know. Yo, my hookers.

Where To Watch Next And Wrap-Up

SPEAKER_01

My hookers. Mother trucker, dude. Um so uh if you can please head over and thumbs up everything, like, subscribe, all that good stuff. Follow the Instagram. Um, we are doing live stream stuff now. SPEAKER_00

If you want to watch everybody suck at video games, give us money.

SPEAKER_01

All right, well, it's been real, everybody. And Chris, as always.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what you want from me.

SPEAKER_01

You know it. You know the tagline you know the tagline. Give the people what they want. Ready, ready, ready? Bunny ears, bunny ears.

SPEAKER_04

Oh god, stupid doo doo, da doo doo.

SPEAKER_01

Oh now I gotta go listen to that song.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Another one. We never use those. I should use them more.

SPEAKER_00

Oh bitch. You gotta wait for Taylor to be eating, and then when she takes a bite, be like, another one. Shit. Taylor, are you eating cheese and pickles? What the hell are you doing? Another one.

SPEAKER_01

So so the uh the other day when I did the live stream where I played TCG card simulator, Taylor was in the chat, and um every time I accidentally I kept so in that game, you have to give people change when they buy stuff, they come up the counter, you gotta give them change. I kept having instances where the change ended in a six-seven. So in the chat, she just kept giving the little hands. She was doing this in the chat. It was pretty funny. It was pretty funny.

SPEAKER_00

You shouldn't give change, you should be like, Oh, thanks for the tip.

SPEAKER_01

I I actually ended up giving them it because I'm bad at math. I ended up giving them um the next closest dollar. So if it was like if it was like sixty eight thirty-two, I was just like sixty-nine dollars for you today.

SPEAKER_00

That's good business strategy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We were hemorrhaging money. Uh cool. Corporate was like, why do we keep losing profits? It's like, oh, that's why. Because I keep giving it away. All right, all right. It's been real, everybody. Time to go. Time to get out of here. Peace.

SPEAKER_00

Peace.

SPEAKER_04

Thanks for listening to the Loken Bridge Podcast.
